Mum, I am dating!
My younger daughter(my baby!)announced one night "Mum, thought I will let you know that I am dating a boy!" I was stunned; but she continued on" Well, I did said to you that when I am dating, I will tell you so...so there, don't say I didn't tell you!" I felt dizzy, my baby, dating???
I have to keep my composure, I have to remain calm (I told myself)
I supposed every parents have to face this-that their baby has finally becomes a young lady/ young man and opposite attracts.
I was calm (still trying to keep my composure)"well it is about time, what is his name and how is he like?" Deep inside I am panicking, will this romance affect her studies? Will she be careful, does she know about sex and the consequence? As a nurse at University, I used to educate the students about safe sex and how to look after yourself, it is harder to talk about the subject with my own daughter; I wish there is someone who will take my place about educating my baby.Help!
The boy seems nice, she is happy and I am feeling older. My baby has grown up, soon she will leave the nest and I will be on my own. I better start thinking about other things beside looking after my "baby" and working at all hours. I should start "Having a Life!"
